“Little Footsteps, Big Future”
Celebrate the strengths and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children at this family-friendly event. Taking part is a way for all Australians to show respect and support and to learn about the crucial role that culture, family and community play in the life of Indigenous children. The day will feature activities including:
- Welcome to Country
- Traditional Dance
- Songs and stories
- Art and craft
- Games
Time: 10am-12pm
Where: Riverside Park, Ford Street, Moruya
Cost: Free
There will be some special Children’s Day bags for the first 100 booked in. This free event is for children 0-6, their families, and early childhood services.

Families are invited to enjoy a range of activities, including games, live music, face painting, and arts and crafts. Bookings are encouraged but not essential, and all are welcome to join in the celebrations.

North East Metropolitan Language Development Centre is excited to celebrate Children's Day, which will begin with an assembly. Cyrill Yarran will perform Welcome Country and a smoking ceremony on the beautiful campus, with dancers also performing on the day. Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, Department of Justice
The Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Department of Justice, Queensland) will be presenting short videos featuring community members, leaders, and stakeholders sharing how birth certificates have made and are making a real difference in their lives. They will be showcasing the work we do on the ground—supporting families to register births and offering free commemorative birth certificates featuring First Nations artwork for children under 16. This is part of their commitment to closing the birth registration gap. They will also be proudly presenting new polo shirts, which feature the Birthing Tree and Sageraw Paykaw designs—symbolising the vital role of birth registration in every child’s journey.

Black Forest Primary School
Black Forest Primary School will be welcoming in parents and grandparents into the school for an open classrooms morning and to participate in a range of activities across the morning and to celebrate the children in their lives. The school has members from the Southern Cultural Immersion Centre coming to do the Welcome to Country and run sessions with the classes. They have a third flag pole recently installed, which means that they can now fly the Torres Strait Islander flag and they will be officially opening this. They have also designed a new entry to the School garden with the words 'Marni Naa Purdi', which will be officially opened as well.
