The 2024 Garbutt Magpies AFL Cup is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this year. The event is held yearly, in conjunction with the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day. Through this, the Garbutt Magpies see over 24 schools come and participate in the largest junior AFL carnival in QLD.

When: Wednesday, 31 July
(9am–3pm)
Where: Queens Park Touch Football Grounds (Cnr Burke and Paxton St North Ward, QLD, 4810)

The event aims not only to promote friendly competition but also to foster cultural understanding between diverse communities. It provides a unique platform for students to develop their skills, build lasting friendships and embrace the rich heritage of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

Gunya Meta is a non-profit organisation focused on meeting the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families in Logan. The organisation works with local schools and education providers to improve educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, as well as health-based programs to promote self-determination, social and emotional wellbeing.
