Kumanjayi Little Baby Donations Update

We want to thank everyone who took the time to contribute and donate towards Kumanjayi Little Baby’s family over recent weeks. We and the family are deeply grateful for the generosity, care and solidarity shown by community around the country.

SNAICC has supported the family of Kumanjayi Little Baby by providing a safe and secure place for donations, while walking alongside and being guided by the family every step of the way. It’s disappointing to see certain media reports not reflect the truth of this.

As an update on your generosity, all donations received have provided direct support to Kumanjayi Little Baby’s mother, brother and family. These funds have also been assisting extended family staying at the sorry camp in the Town Camp. Support has included accommodation for the family, mattresses, blankets, food, clothing, household goods, fuel, vouchers and other essential items as requested.

At the request of senior family members, SNAICC and supporting organisations have advised that the remaining donations will be quarantined for funeral expenses.

So we can help manage the expectations that may be placed on the family, SNAICC will not be releasing the amount that has been raised. However, we will undertake an independent audit of all donations, which will eventually become publicly available.

Again, we want to thank you for helping this family and community as they navigate this tragedy and assure you all that the family have and will continue to be supported.
