A Place for Culture – Cooloon/Tweed Heads & Coolangatta Workshop Information
A Place for Culture is a professional learning and development opportunity that supports Early Childhood Education and Care educators and leaders working in non-Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander services to build inclusive early learning environments for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.
The A Place for Culture Cooloon/Tweed Heads & Coolangatta workshop will be held on the traditional lands of the Bundjalung and Yugambeh peoples at The Sebel Twin Towns in Coolangatta. The workshop will be delivered by the SNAICC Learning and Development team.
Workshop Details
- Date: Thursday 22 October 2026
- Time: Arrive from 9:00am for a 9:30am start – 4:30pm finish
- Location: The Sebel Twin Towns Coolangatta, Cnr Griffith St and Stuart St, Coolangatta
- Catering: Lunch and afternoon tea will be provided. Please advise any dietary requirements when enrolling.
The workshop is free for participants and is funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA). Participants are responsible for any travel or personal expenses.
Places are limited to three participants per organisation. Additional participants may be added to a waitlist.

Venue Information
The Sebel Twin Towns is located on the traditional lands of the Bundjalung and Yugambeh peoples, on the Queensland–New South Wales border in the heart of Coolangatta.
The Sebel Twin Towns offers a convenient and welcoming setting for professional learning.
Connected to the Twin Towns Club via an enclosed walkway, the venue is within easy walking distance of beaches, cafés and local amenities, creating a relaxed environment that supports learning, reflection and networking.
- Regular Translink bus services stop along Griffith Street and Wharf Street, a short walk from the venue, connecting Coolangatta with the Gold Coast and Tweed Heads.
- The hotel is within walking distance of the Coolangatta town centre.
- Complimentary undercover self-parking is available for attendees, subject to availability.
- Additional paid public parking is available nearby.
The Sebel Twin Towns is designed to accommodate guests of all abilities and includes:
- Step-free entry with access ramps.
- Lift access throughout the venue.
- Designated accessible parking spaces.
- Wheelchair-accessible meeting and accommodation facilities.
- Accessible guest rooms with widened doorways and accessible bathrooms.
- Accessible toilets and assistance animal access. Venue staff can also assist with arranging additional accessibility requirements where needed.
Enrolment Information
After you enrol, SNAICC will review your enrolment and confirm your spot.
- Once confirmed, we will send you an email with your in‑person workshop details.
Note: If the workshop is full at the time of review, we will place you on the waitlist and let you know. - You will also receive a request to complete a short self-assessment survey via Google Forms (this will take less than 5-10 minutes).
- Approximately six weeks before the workshop, Early Childhood Australia (ECA) will provide login details to access the online learning.
- Finally, you will have access to online learning for up to six weeks before the workshop and for four weeks after.
A Place for Culture is delivered through a blended learning model, including:
- Self-paced online learning; approximately 6–8 hours.
- One-day, in-person workshop facilitated by SNAICC.
- Online yarning circle to reflect and share learning with peers.
- Certificate of participation on completion.
This approach allows participants to build knowledge at their own pace and then apply learning in a supportive, interactive environment.
Participants will have access to two self-paced online learning programs up to six weeks before the in-person workshop:
- Program 1: A Place for Culture (Four courses | Estimated 3–4 hours total)
- Program 2: A Place for Culture in the Early Years (Two courses | Estimated 1–2 hours total)
Participants are strongly encouraged to complete the online learning before attending the in-person workshop, as it provides important background knowledge that will be built on during the in-person session.
