SNAICC – National Voice for our Children welcomes the joint investment of the Australian Government, the Government of Western Australia and Minderoo Foundation to build the new, community-led early learning and family centre.

This is a significant achievement for the Ngunga Group Women’s Aboriginal Corporation and a strong endorsement of the proven impact of Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO)-led early childhood services.

The new centre will operate as a genuine early childhood hub, bringing together early learning, playgroups, after-school and school holiday programs, occasional care and family workshops on one site, expanding access to culturally strong services for local children and families.

Catherine Liddle, CEO of SNAICC – National Voice for our Children commended the State and Federal Government for their investment.

“This project will significantly increase the number of children and families who can access vital early learning, playgroups, occasional care and family support in their community,” Ms Liddle said.

“By growing community-led early education and care, more children will have the chance to start strong in safe, nurturing and culturally grounded environments and more families will be connected to the support they need.

“Walk into any Aboriginal community-controlled early childhood service and you feel it immediately – belonging, cultural strength and children learning and laughing where they feel safe, proud and loved.

“These are the services best placed to deliver strong outcomes for our children, families and communities.

“Significantly, this is the first Investment Dialogue for Australia’s Children project to receive funding through the Building Early Education Fund, demonstrating what is possible when governments, philanthropy and community work in genuine partnership.

“It reflects the strength and leadership of the Ngunga Group Women’s Aboriginal Corporation and their unwavering commitment to giving children the best possible start in life.

“It is also an investment in the long-term future of the community by backing a model that we know delivers lasting outcomes for children and families.”

SNAICC encourages federal and jurisdictional governments to continue backing ACCO-led early childhood education and care services across regional and remote Australia.
