The SNAICC Report on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family-led Decision Making Trials in Queensland January 2016 to June 2017 provides an overview of trial design, purpose and implementation support provided by SNAICC, as well as presenting key findings and 24 recommendations to inform future roll out of family-led decision making in Queensland.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander family-led decision making is endorsed in the Queensland Government Changing Tracks: An action plan for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families 2017 -2019.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander family-led decision making trials were introduced in response to recommendations for reform to the child protection system proposed in Taking Responsibility: A Roadmap for Queensland Child Protection, the final report of the Queensland Child Protection Commission of Inquiry (2012).
Research partners Winangali and Ipsos Australia have developed a comprehensive evaluation report on the trials.
