Stronger Safer Together

Basic Information

  • 2 Day Training program
  • Focus on complex casework with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community
  • Looking at local, community based responses and national best practice approaches

Overview

The program explores complex casework approaches that support healing and provides a focus on the prevention of family violence, child abuse and neglect and supporting the building of child safe communities and organisations. Learning objectives are:

  • Building trusting and healing relationships and partnerships with families
  • Understanding historical impacts of trauma
  • Working effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families with complex and challenging needs
  • Identifying the needs of children and their families
  • Engaging with and developing support strategies with families
  • Providing an appropriate mix of practical, therapeutic, educational and advocacy supports
  • Discussing ways to include families in case planning and decision making
  • Working effectively with statutory child protection agencies and,
  • Ensuring worker safety, self-care, boundaries and supervision

This workshop is designed for:

  • Professionals from child protection and family support services,
  • Workers from family violence programs, women’s services, youth work,
  • Community development and community services

*No prerequisites, however this workshop complements our Genuine Partnerships training.
