Overview
The program explores complex casework approaches that support healing and provides a focus on the prevention of family violence, child abuse and neglect and supporting the building of child safe communities and organisations. Learning objectives are:
- Building trusting and healing relationships and partnerships with families
- Understanding historical impacts of trauma
- Working effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families with complex and challenging needs
- Identifying the needs of children and their families
- Engaging with and developing support strategies with families
- Providing an appropriate mix of practical, therapeutic, educational and advocacy supports
- Discussing ways to include families in case planning and decision making
- Working effectively with statutory child protection agencies and,
- Ensuring worker safety, self-care, boundaries and supervision
This workshop is designed for:
- Professionals from child protection and family support services,
- Workers from family violence programs, women’s services, youth work,
- Community development and community services
*No prerequisites, however this workshop complements our Genuine Partnerships training.
