The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse has released a consultation paper on redress and civil litigation.
Early on the Royal Commission recognised that redress and civil litigation are important issues to survivors of child sexual abuse and to institutions that have acknowledged the inadequacies of their current redress processes.
The consultation paper is designed to seek widespread community input before the Commissioners release a final report on the issue, with recommendations, in mid-2015.
The Royal Commission is inviting all interested parties to make formal written submissions* by midday on Monday 2 March 2015 either electronically to redress@childabuseroyalcommission.gov.au or via post GPO Box 5283 Sydney NSW 2001.
People who may not wish to provide a formal written submission can choose to complete a short online form on the Royal Commission website.
The consultation paper is available to download from the Royal Commission website.
*Formal written submissions to this consultation paper will be made public unless the person making the submission requests that it not be made public or the Royal Commission considers it should not be made public.
