SNAICC – National Voice for our Children congratulates the Queensland Government and Communities Minister Shannon Fentiman for their leadership in investments to reduce the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in care.
The Queensland Government has announced a $6million innovation fund, which will see investment in early intervention for both local and state-wide projects.
Critically, the Government has also committed to implement this through the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led strategy under the Family Matters: kids safe in culture not in care campaign. Working with the commitment demonstrated by the Queensland Government and the genuine partnership approach, SNAICC is confident this funding will see change on the ground for our children most in need in Queensland.
