The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) has released two publications on the rights of Indigenous Peoples. These publications may assist organisations and communities in further understanding the rights of Indigenous Peoples and the use of international human rights mechanisms by Indigenous Peoples.
Indigenous Peoples and the United Nations Human Rights System provides information on the United Nations human rights systems in an easy-to-read format. It offers a summary of Indigenous Peoples rights and describes the international and regional human rights systems that can assist in protecting the human rights of Indigenous Peoples.
The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples: A Manual for National Human Rights Institutions was developed in partnership with the Asia Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions. It provides information on how national human rights institutions can assist in ensuring advocacy for, and implementation of, the rights of Indigenous Peoples.
