Description

In October, 2010 seven young Aboriginal women gathered at Ballina Beach to create art, learn skills and to share their stories, ideas, hopes and fears, dreams and culture in a train the trainer self-publishing workshop over two days. The focus was on resilience and culture and how these young woman interpreted this theme.

The Ballina workshop was facilitated by Jane Harrison and Tatiana Doroshenko from SNAICC and delivered with Melinda Brown from Interrelate Family Centre and Nancy Walke from Bunjum Aboriginal Cooperative.

The young women’s inspiration, passion, creativity and connection with culture are celebrated in digital stories and art work which were then compiled into a book and a 13 minute DVD that was created by everyone at the workshop. The book and DVD are now available for sale.

This resource will be useful to others who work with young people and are looking for inspiration to run similar workshops.
