New resources to deal with trauma

January 22, 2015

22 January 2015 | Community Announcements

The Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS) has released a new suite of Koori parenting resources, called Breaking the Cycle of Trauma: Koori Parenting, What Works for Us.

Consisting of a 12-page illustrated booklet, seven postcards and a poster, the resources convey key messages and practical strategies to help Koori parents break intergenerational cycles of trauma within their families.

The resources, which have been informed by and developed for urban Aboriginal parents, were developed as part of a 12-month project funded by the Healing Foundation, which aimed to raise awareness and understanding about trauma within the context of parenting.

Digital copies of the resources are available free of charge via the VAHS website, while hard copy versions are available for purchase.
