The civil and family law needs of Indigenous people in WA marks the completion of series of jurisdictional reports from the Indigenous Legal Needs Project (ILNP).
The aim of the project was to identify and analyse the legal needs of Indigenous communities in non-criminal legal areas, such as discrimination, consumer matters, credit and debt, child protection, education, employment, health, housing and wills and estates.
Following a pilot project in New South Wales, the ILNP produced reports examining the legal needs of Indigenous communities in the Northern Territory, Victoria, Queensland, and, now, Western Australia.
Alongside each report the ILNP developed an animated film illustrating the findings of its research. The series of four videos is available for viewing through the ILNP website.
To mark the publication of the Western Australian report, the ILNP has also released its fifth and final progress report, which discusses the completion of field work and research analysis.
