Families Australia has issued an open invitation to the 4th annual Child Aware Approaches Conference 2016 (CAA 2016) at the Brisbane Exhibition Centre, 23-24 May 2016.
The two day conference aims to advance the goals of the National Framework for Protecting Australia’s Children 2009-2020, the National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010-2022 and advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The conference program will contribute to strengthening our knowledge and capacities to better support children, their families and local communities to value, protect and promote child wellbeing. Attending the conference will assist to deepen the conversation and broaden professional networks, access new resources and hear from researchers.
Delegates should expect to develop a deeper understanding of the approaches needed to promote the importance of working together to prevent harm to children through the activation of thoughtful and innovative policy and practice. International contributions are strongly encouraged.
Families Australia and the 2016 CAA 2016 Conference Planning Committee invite the submission of abstracts of original work for consideration as oral, interactive workshop, poster and resource display presentations. We anticipate the program will provide an opportunity to advance thinking, showcase promising and innovative practice, encourage policy discourse and analysis and help to chart directions in three key areas:
- Advancing children’s development and wellbeing in the first 1000 days.
- Supporting young people in out-of-home care to flourish in adulthood.
- Building child safe organisations and environments.
Abstracts should be submitted by 20 January 2016. More information about the conference and abstract submission process, including selection criteria, is available at the Child Aware Approaches Conference website.
