In May the Australian Government announced a series of reforms to the childcare sector. The Government has now published a Regulation Impact Statement, and is seeking comments from service providers, families and the general public on how the proposed changes will impact families and services.
Feedback can be provided online, by mail, or in-person through attending a consultation forum. The closing date for feedback is 31 July 2015. To provide online feedback, or to view consultations details visit the Early Childhood Australia website.
The proposed reforms will have a particular impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander services and families more broadly. Further information on these impacts is available on the SNAICC website. This is a really important opportunity to speak up about how the proposed reforms will impact on services, communities, and most importantly, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families. We encourage you to give your feedback on the reforms either through attending a consultation forum, or by sending through your written feedback.
SNAICC will be attending the consultation in Melbourne and providing a written submission. If you would be interested in collaborating in a written submission please do let us know – we are keen to work with as many services as possible within the short time frame to best represent the impacts of these reforms on children and families.
If you have any questions about this process please contact SNAICC Senior Policy Officer Holly Mason White via email at holly.mason-white@snaicc.org.au.
